Digital whistleblower system of the Berlin-Brandenburg state laboratory 


We value honesty, integrity and transparency.

Compliance with laws, rules and internal regulations is a top priority at Landeslabor Berlin-Brandenburg ("LLBB"). We can only protect the LLBB, our employees and our business partners, service providers and their respective employees if we act in accordance with the law. The whistleblower system receives specific indications of potential misconduct by LLBB employees.

 It requires everyone's attention and willingness to report specific information about breaches of the rules. These can be reported confidentially to the whistleblower system at any time. This includes, for example, offences against laws such as corruption, violation of human rights, theft or discrimination.
 
 Protection for everyone involved

 The whistleblower system guarantees the greatest possible protection for whistleblowers and those affected. An investigation is only initiated after careful examination of the report and if there are concrete indications of a breach of the rules. The information is processed as part of a fair and confidential process. Discrimination, intimidation or hostility resulting from a report to the LLBB whistleblower system will be investigated and penalised using the same process.
 
 Submitting reports - but correctly!

 After receiving the reports, our service provider whistleblower expert processes them in accordance with all necessary procedural principles (e.g. confidentiality, protection of whistleblowers). In order to process cases and, if necessary, initiate appropriate investigative measures, it is often necessary to engage in dialogue with the whistleblower. It is therefore important that the report is formulated as specifically as possible. It is helpful if you consider the following five questions when making a report:
 
 
- Who is involved? Who is affected?
- What - What has happened? Describe the facts of the case.
- When - When was the incident?
- How - How often did it happen?
- Where - Where did the incident take place?

As the person providing the information, you should make sure that the descriptions can also be understood by people from outside the field. It is helpful if you are available to answer further questions. If you wish to do so, your anonymity will be strictly preserved by our contracted service provider. 
 
In addition to our whistleblower expert service provider, other departments within the LLBB may also be involved in the processing of reports. In the case of well-founded reports, the facts of the case may be investigated with the assistance of other internal or external experts. There is also close cooperation with the Z-1 - Human Resources Management service unit in the investigation and measures are initiated if necessary.
